Cache Film Review

Cache dives into a reoccurring topic discussed in the class, privacy. Privacy is one of the most unstable aspects of digital media. No one is certain they are being watched, they only assume that they are safe. This has recently been a large concern of mine. It may sound like a conspiracy theory, but the NSA has the ability to watch whoever they want. They probably will see this review simply off the fact I typed their name in. Privacy is relative, no one should believe there never watched and should be conscious of how they appear in digital media. The events that occurred in Cache can easily occur in today’s society.

Along with privacy, Cache reflects more on the digital impact of the villainous acts of governments. George and his family were being stalked because of the effects of the Seine River Massacre. This reflects on the digital age, stating that nothing goes unseen. The use of digital media caused events from the past to be reflected on again, never forgotten. This is a con of digital media that hinders many people from participating in the culture. Everything posted on the internet stays on the internet. Digital media provides a timeline for the past, showing us our actions during that time. Similar to George, we cannot run away from the past.

Even though Caches setting takes place before the rise of social media, it foreshadows its effect on how people think about their own history.
